Wyrm's Crossing

Wyrm’s Crossing is the huge, double-bridge crossing the River Chionthar along the Trade Way.
Anyone crossing Wyrm’s Rock is taxed by the Flaming Fist for the city of Baldur’s Gate, which is one of the major sources of income for the city.
The bridge is high enough for most ships to sail under without issue, and two draw bridges can be raised on either side of Wyrm’s Rock to allow taller ships to pass. However, such passage is taxes.
This causes many ships to risk passing during the night, when the draw bridges are raised anyway.

Small structures were constructed along the bridge’s huge columns, sticking to the sides and accessible through stairs from above. They often disconnect from the bridge and fall to the river below, clearing room for new buildings to take their place.
