Ulgoth's Beard

Ulgoth’s Beard is a small, poor fishing village on the north side of the mouth of the river Chionthar.
The village was founded to provide warning to Baldur’s Gate of invading armies or pirate raids. A large beacon is situated on the cliffs just south of the village, which can be easily seen from Baldur’s Gate’s walls.

The name comes from an old legend, that the beacon robbed a notorious pirate named Ulgoth of a surprise attack against Baldur’s Gate, metaphorically singing his beard.

There is no road leading to the village and it has no inns or taverns. A local farmer set up a common room at his relatively large living room and is selling poor quality home-made ale.
